Corporate social responsibility attracting more attention

30-Dec-2007

David Waldman,Director of the Center for Responsible Leadership, spoke on the evening of December 25 to an audience at the Jerusalem Institute of Market Studies in Jerusalem, Israel. The purpose of his talk was to present a viewpoint about the management and leadership of corporate social responsibility practices on the part of firms. An alternative viewpoint was put forth by Don Siegel of the University of California at Riverside. Highlights of their discussion can be found in the attached link. In essence, Dr. Waldman took what he termed a holistic, leadership approach to social responsibility, while Dr. Siegel stressed more economic and strategic concerns. This discussion highlights the need to better understand the role of individual decision-makers and leaders in the development and implementation of policies relevant to corporate social responsibility.
